Malt Whisky Trail

​Our pods are perfectly placed for discovering the famous Malt Whisky Trail, right in the heart of Speyside, with Cardhu and The Macallan among the closest distilleries to us. This renowned route takes you through the world's highest concentration of malt whisky distilleries, where you can learn about centuries-old traditions, enjoy guided tours and of course sample some exceptional drams.  Set against beautiful Speyside scenery, it makes for an ideal day out before returning to your pod to relax, unwind and savour the spirit of Speyside at your own pace.

Speyside Way

Just a 2 minute drive away, the Speyside Way offers a truly special way to explore this beautiful corner of Scotland.  Stretching for around 65 miles from Buckie on the Moray Coast to Aviemore in the Cairngorms, the route winds through peaceful woodland, along the River Spey and past world famous Whisky Distilleries.  It's a gentle, well-marked trail, perfect for relaxed walks or longer adventures, with ever-changing scenery and plenty of spots to stop, breathe it all in and soak up the calm of Speyside before heading back to the comfort of your pod.

Castles

Our pods are ideally located for exploring some of Speyside & Moray's most fascinating castles with the beautiful Ballindalloch Castle the closest and an easy trip from your door.  Often described as the 'Pearl of the North' it's set within stunning gardens beside the River Avon and offers a wonderful glimpse into Highland history.  A little further afield you'll find the atmospheric ruins of Balvenie Castle near Dufftown, the dramatic coastal remains of Duffus Castle and the elegant Brodie Castle with its rich history and woodland walk.​​​

Further Afield

Barn Owl Pods is perfectly placed for exploring both Inverness and Aberdeen, making it easy to enjoy the best of the Highlands and the north-east coast.

​

Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, offers riverside walks along the Ness, historic sites, cosy cafes and shops, and easy access to Loch Ness for boat trips and castle visits.

​

In the other direction, Aberdeen is known for its striking granite architecture, sandy beaches, coastal walks and vibrant food scene.  There are also plenty of museums, galleries and shopping to explore.

​

Whether you fancy a Highland day out or a coastal city adventure, both are within easy reach of the pods
